If you drink water, and you live in Hampton, let me remove all doubts from your mind.
It’s FINE.
There hasn’t been any recent water quality violations in Hampton-Shaler water authority water. It’s disclosed in the HSWA water quality report.
In an article released by Triblive back in March, Butler school district discovered lead in the water of Summit Elementary School in September of 2016, and didn’t inform parents and students to stop drinking the water until January of 2017
HSWA is at high risk for hazardous chemicals due to the fact that a railroad runs right through the well area, and the trains that pass through carry hazardous chemicals. But as Mr. Rick Farino, the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor says, “Our water is as clean as clean water gets.”
Our water is tested for lead and all other impurities every year, and every year nothing shows up.
Mr. Farino also said in an interview, “There has never been a water violation” in Hampton’s history. He even provided a full water report for all of the Hampton Township School District and nothing showed up, as expected.
There are also actions being taken to ensure that our water will stay clean, such as backflow preventers that are tested every year.
What is a backflow preventer? It reduces pressure in the pipe, and prevents outside contaminants from getting into the water. And keeps our water much cleaner and safer for us to drink.
As Citizens of Hampton Township, and students of Hampton High School, we can take solace in the fact that our water is perfectly safe to drink and don’t have to worry anymore.
