New year, new grievances

I think we can all agree that the year 2018 was straight up bad. Some months (June, July, and August) were better than others, but the whole year was just kind of beat. We, at the Hamptonian, have come to the conclusion that some things just need to stay in 2018. I, being the hard hitting journalist that I am, interrupted several classes to ask the citizens of HHS what they wanted to see left behind in 2018 and what they were hoping to see in 2019.
Let’s start off with the things we want to leave behind.
Unsurprisingly, I had a lot of people tell me they wanted the get rid of Fortnite, ASMR, Tik Tok, flossing, and dabbing. In my professional opinion dabbing should have been abandoned back in 2016.
On the fashion side of things, people wanted to get rid of clear shoes, denim on denim, tiny sunglasses, dad shoes, the “frat boy” look, and fuzzy socks with sandals. The only things I disagree with on this list would be the socks with sandals and maybe the clear shoes. Socks and sandals are great because your feet can be warm but they’re not trapped in foot prison like with regular shoes. Clears shoes with no socks are gross, but if I want to be able to show off all of my cute socks through my shoes then that’s my business.
Several people gave me very noble answers. I got things like judgment, body shaming, online bullying, plastic straws, pollution, and Kohl’s. I definitely agree that five out of six of those things need to go. I'm not sure what somebody has against Kohl's, but I don´t judge.
Let's move on to the things that we want to see more of/look forward to seeing.
My favorite answer out of the bunch came from Miss Dockter. She said she wanted, ¨memes for days¨ and ¨more Cassidy 2019.” She's a very smart woman.
People are hoping for improvements to the school such as level four art classes, later school start times, more Miss Dockter (that one was all me), spring break, and everyone hanging out with a wider range of their fellow students.
As for fashion, students said they wanted to see more socks with sandals (that one wasn't me but I agree), more yellow, and heels with jeans.
People had a lot to say when it came to their favorite shows. Somebody wanted 90210 back on Netflix, and another person wants another season of Gossip Girl. Miss Perry wants Scuba to return to Netflix. I´ve never heard of Scuba, I don't know what it is, but that's what she told me so that's what we´re going with.
Lauren Turner (19) would like Justin Bieber to come out with some new music. I completely agree with that one because I, myself, am a belieber (also, #Jelena for life). Hanna Bernett (19) wants Ed Sheeran to release some new stuff (I love Ed Sheeran).
Students are eagerly awaiting the return of the popular app Vine (me too). Other students just want cheesy breadsticks.
Mr. Hermenau just wants afternoon Busy Bean hours.
No matter what your 2019 wish is, I hope everyone has a happy and healthy New Year and that this year is better than 2018 (because 2018 was a wreck).
