Mercury Retrograde

Prepare to stay in bed and take cover for the next three and a half weeks, because the first Mercury Retrograde of 2018 is coming!
At 8:11 P.M. EST on March 22nd, Mercury will move into its retrograde phase before going direct on April 15th.
Mercury is one of the eight planets (sorry, Pluto) and it being in retrograde refers to when it seemingly moves backwards through the sky. This occurs about three or four times a year when Mercury speeds past Earth since its orbit is much shorter than Earth’s from the planet being so near to the Sun. An analogy of this can been seen when driving next to a car that suddenly slows down and appears to be traveling in reverse.
Mercury is the planet of communication, which includes listening, speaking, learning, reading, editing, researching, negotiating, selling, and buying. This can especially ensue turmoil among all formal contracts and agreements, as well as important documents such as book manuscripts or term papers, agreements, deeds, contracts, leases, and wills. Technology is also a major focus of this planet, involving all types of code, such as computer codes, as well as transportation, shipping, and travel. When this planet retrogrades, these parts of our lives we deal with daily are more likely to get scrambled or spin out of control. It is for this reason actually advised to hold off on signing important contracts and even making any kind of drastic decision until Mercury goes direct.
When a planet retrogrades, astrologically it is in a resting or sleeping state. In this case, while Mercury is catching up on some Z’s, its specialties like transportation, communication, and technology are not being operated to their fullest potential.
This specific retrograde is in the astrological fire-sign Aries, one of the most spontaneous and hasty of the twelve in the zodiac. This brings us a specific need to think before we speak during this time and not jump into anything new before weighing both the pros and cons of it.
Believe what you want, but Mercury Retrograde is ultimately a time to reflect on your past while becoming increasingly aware of your actions in the present.
