Hartwood Concert Preview

No summer is complete without a stop by one of Hartwood’s iconic concerts from its tremendous lineup. The park is well known for these sound sessions always falling on Sunday nights to wrap up a week of summer fun. Ranging from June to September and reggae to rock, there is sure to be a concert in everyone’s favor.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette just released their list of the park’s summer setlist. All concerts will start at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Food trucks and Hop Farm Brewing Company will be on site at all concerts by 6 p.m.
The River City Brass Brass Band will kick off the concert series on June 3rd. They are followed by Noah Gundersen w/ Some Kind of Animal, an indie-rock band, on the 10th. Fans will have a full day of fun on June 17th during the Father’s Day Car Cruise from 2-7 p.m. before a concert featuring Swinging with the Angels, an oldies group, at 7:30 p.m. The last concert of the month will be played by an indie-rock/Americana group named Lera Lynn on the 24th.
The concerts of July are started on the 1st by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, an orchestral/patriotic favorites group, at 8:15 p.m. On the 8th, The Original Lakeside w/ The Bill Henry Band will serenade listeners with their funk/boogie music. Phillip Phillips, a pop-rock group, comes to Hartwood on July 15th. A country-rock group by the name of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band w/ Angela Autumn will play on the 22nd. The 29th hosts Lucius w/ Brooke Annibale for another indie-rock concert.
The Toots & The Maytals kick off the month of August on the 5th with their reggae and ska music. The 12th hosts BNY Mellon Jazz with Larry Carlton and Frank Cunimondo. Music and dance fans will come together on the 19th to enjoy the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. The last free concert of the summer is that of Sinkane, a free jazz and funk-rock group, on the 26th.
September 2nd holds the 19th Annual Allegheny County Music Festival featuring local bands starting at 5 p.m. This event is famous for its including of the band Rusted Root. $20 per vehicle is the requested donation to benefit the Allegheny County Department of Human Services.
With fourteen concerts total, Hartwood remains as the hotspot for free summer music in Allegheny County.
