2018 MLB Winter Meetings

Everybody body wants to know where Bryce Harper wants to go. “Well I think he should go to the Dodgers!” “NO I THINK HE SHOULD STAY WITH THE NATIONALS.” “Well you know he’s gonna go somewhere unexpected usually how it works these days.”
In 2018 Harper was the 2nd highest player paid on the Nationals making $21,625,000 only good for the 2018 season. Their highest paid player is (drum roll please) Max Scherzer which they signed in 2015 for 7 years $22,142,857 YEARLY (which is a lot of dough if you ask me). The Nationals have roughly $132,000,000 in salary cap in 2019 but with the way things are looking they may want to invest in someone else.
Looking at the Pirates they seem to be getting worse and worse by the year. Even having a 82-79 winning record in 2018 they just lost arguably their best pitcher (maybe 2nd best). On December 11th the Pirates traded starting pitcher Ivan Nova to the White Sox in exchange for a prospect pitcher and international signing money(which is money they can use to sign a player from overseas). Nova last season went 9-9 with a 4.19 ERA in 29 games, 114 strikeouts, and a total of 161 innings pitched.
Another big loss for the Pirates is the exit of Jordy Mercer. He’s 1 year deal most likely will bite the Pirates in the back considering the fact they play the Tigers between 4-6 times a year. Although the Pirates have played pretty well against the Tigers over the past 2 seasons things seem to be worse for them.
The Pirates are of eleven teams interested in SS Troy Tulowitzki. In mine and others opinion they should only sign him to a one year deal which makes sense since he’s 34 years of age. The Pirates have never been in running for any big players and if they are those players never sign with them. They also don’t have the money like other teams do like the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, or Red Sox do. Andrew McCutchen, James McCann, Billy Hamilton all off the market the Pirates have to find someone else. But only time will tell.
If Tulowitzki signs with the Pirates then they will have a veteran leader to help up comers Kevin Neumann and Kevin Kramer along with (although we may not see him) Cole Tucker. So the Winter Meetings are over but signings are not. And honestly I can't wait to see where Bryce Harper ends up because wherever it is it will give that team a boost. (Please not LA, please not LA.)
